The Sabina area is perhaps, more frequently, recognized in reference to its Rieti sector, but Sabina is also Roman! Indeed, Sabina, as a geographical region, extends up into the very outskirts of Rome.

Forum novum, an ancient market town dating back to the Middle Republican age, gives the name, from the Augustan period until today, to the region of Sabina called Ager foronovanum, a name that identifies one of the most beautiful and characteristic parts of the Sabines' land.

There is a magical place in the south of Umbria, not far from Terni, where, due to the vagaries of the climate and perhaps the man's hand, the Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis) grows spontaneously. It is one of the 4 (and only 4!) places of origin of this conifer in Italy.
